About
About us
Thames and Central is one of many energy efficiency advice centres throughout the country working towards the same goals in energy efficiency and renewable energy. The Centre was initiated by the UK Government in October 1993 to provide free and impartial advice on energy efficiency to residents and businesses and originated after the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 where Governments were told to rethink economic development and find ways to halt the destruction of irreplaceable natural resources and pollution of the planet. We have been very successful over the years and have been able to advise more than 120,000 people on how to achieve energy efficient homes and sustainable communities. We have been very proactive in working with universities, schools, education departments, hospitals, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, the National Health Service, the elderly, businesses and our European and United Kingdom partners in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy. We support a progressive UK and world energy policy.

Thames and Central staff
Thames & Central is staffed and advised by graduates and postgraduates with years of experience and qualifications in subjects as diverse as energy efficiency, building services engineering, environmental engineering, business, marketing, computer science and the physical sciences.
We run an active work placement scheme for those interested in this field. We encourage you to contact us.
We also have a close collaboration with the University of East London.
